We're a husband-and-wife store, so I notice things about other family businesses that maybe a corporate buyer wouldn't. Here's one that stopped me: Diamond Mattress is on its fourth generation of the same family.

Jim and Pearl Pennington started it as a box spring company in Oklahoma. Then Richard ran it. Then Randy. Now Shaun and Breana Pennington run it as president and vice-president, and the mattresses are still designed and built at their own factory in the Los Angeles area, hand-crafted in the USA.

You don't keep a family name on a product for four generations by shipping junk. Every mattress that leaves that factory has their last name on it, more or less. That changes how people build things.

Is Diamond Mattress good quality?

The certifications say a lot, and they're not the kind you can buy with a logo fee. CertiPUR-US, Oeko-Tex 100 Class 1, GOTS, eco-INSTITUT, GreenGuard Gold. Third parties checking what actually goes into the foam and fabric you sleep on.

But the real test is the same one I give every mattress: fifteen minutes lying on it. We keep four Diamond models on the floor in Melbourne. The Tradition 2.0 Pillowtop Luxe, the Monaco Euro Top, the Timeless Hybrid and the Gilded Hybrid, set up side by side so your back can compare instead of your browser.

Come lie down at 1024 S Harbor City Blvd. Bring your pillow if you're serious, nobody here will blink. More on the company and the models on our Diamond Mattress page, and everything mattress-related on our mattress page.
