ALEXANDER AND SHERIDAN IN MELBOURNE, FLORIDA
The cabinet beds on our floor you already know by name
The Amelia, Marco Island and Lantana cabinet beds at our showroom are built by Alexander and Sheridan, a Florida-based maker with five decades of solid wood and real rattan behind it.

THE SHORT VERSION
Why Alexander and Sheridan is on our floor
Atlantic Fine Furniture carries Alexander and Sheridan at our Melbourne, Florida showroom, and if you have shopped our cabinet beds you have already met them: our Amelia, Marco Island and Lantana models come from their Key Largo, Kona and Universal collections. Solid wood cabinets that open into a real queen bed in about a minute, no wall mounting, in finishes like beach sand, french white and rustic driftwood.
The company goes back to 1974 and now designs from Florida. Their rattan heritage shows in everything they build: living room groups, dining, barstools and occasional tables joined the traditional way.

FROM THE OWNER
Rattan done right is structure, not decoration
A lot of what sells as rattan today is veneer over softwood. The real thing uses mature poles and joinery that has worked for a century: fish-mouth joints wrapped in rawhide. Alexander and Sheridan still builds that way, and I have been ordering from them long enough to know what comes off their truck.

WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT
Three things to know before you buy a cabinet bed.
-

01.
Cabinet beds, no construction
The Amelia, Marco Island and Lantana are freestanding furniture: placed, not installed. A smooth folding action takes them from handsome cabinet to made-up queen in about a minute, and renters and condo owners never have to ask permission.
-

02.
Built like their rattan
Five decades of joinery discipline carries into the cabinet beds: solid hardwood construction from a company whose rattan pieces still use fish-mouth joints and rawhide bindings. Look inside the cabinet; the honesty is in there.
-

03.
And the tropical casual it grew from
Established in 1974 and now based in Florida, A and S still builds the real-rattan living room groups, dining sets and occasional tables it made its name on. Whole-room tropical casual, joined the old way.
