What it changes
- Head up. A few degrees of incline is the difference between snoring and not, and between reflux at 2 a.m. and sleeping through.
- Feet up. Legs above the heart at the end of a long day on your feet — or the zero-gravity position, head and feet both raised, which takes pressure off the lower back.
- Sit up. Read, watch TV, or work from bed without a stack of pillows that collapses by page two.
- Get up. Raising the head brings you most of the way to sitting before your feet touch the floor — easier on knees, hips, and backs.
